So what exactly is Supplement Certified?

Supplement Certified is an independent scientific certification programme that verifies the label claims of food supplements. It is led by Prof John Nolan and Dr Alfonso Prado-Cabrero, along with their colleagues at South East Technological University. The programme aims to bring transparency to the nutritional supplement industry. It ensures that the supplements tested deliver exactly what they promise on their box.

Acknowledgement of excellence

We were delighted to see Supplement Certified recently receive the coveted international accreditation under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 by the Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB). This accreditation is an international standard for testing laboratories. Achieving this accreditation highlights Supplement Certified’s commitment to rigorous testing and strict quality control.

The accreditation specifically recognises Supplement Certified’s proficiency in two areas:

  1. HPLC-DAD Determination of Carotenoids in Dietary Supplements
  2. GC-FID Determination of Fatty Acids in Dietary Supplements

Prof John Nolan, Founder and Lead Scientific Officer, stated:

“This achievement reaffirms our commitment to supporting nutraceutical companies in their mission to enhance human function through safe and effective dietary supplements. Beyond our members, this milestone holds immense importance for society at large. The goal of Supplement Certified is to protect consumers by ensuring the presence and stability of the active nutrients claimed in dietary supplements. With ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation, this recognition ensures consumers can trust that products certified by Supplement Certified meet the highest standards of quality and integrity. In an industry where transparency and accountability are paramount, this accreditation as validation serves as a beacon of trust for consumers seeking to optimise their health and well-being.”

Alan Quinlan, CEO at Supplement Certified, commented:

“Our mission at Supplement Certified is to empower consumers with confidence in the supplements they choose to incorporate into their health regimens, while assisting the industry in meeting their legal obligations regarding product health claims. Achieving ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation is a significant milestone in fulfilling this mission.
